What Makes the 2022 Volkswagen GTI so Fun to Drive?

The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI is known to be one of the most fun to drive and engaging sports cars on the market due to its numerous technological features.

Enhanced performances

The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI received a number of modifications that improve its performances, both in terms of engine power and handling. The standard turbocharged engine has been tuned to deliver 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, which is an improvement of 13 horsepower and 15 lb-ft over the 2021 model. The two transmissions are still the same six-speed manual and seven-speed DSG units, but a new XDS electronic differential lock makes sure that the power is sent to the ground in the most efficient way possible by limiting wheel spin and transferring power to the wheel with the best traction. These changes result in a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of only 6.4 seconds.

Improved handling

The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI is not only faster, it is also more agile. This is due to a number of modifications that have been made to the chassis, the suspension and the steering system. In order to provide the best ride and the best handling possible, the Golf GTI is now available with the DCC adaptive damping system which determines the best damper settings in relation to the driving style and the road conditions and then adjusts the damping force up to 200 times per second. The front suspension has also been reworked and it now features an aluminum subframe that helps reduce the total weight of the assembly by 7 pounds. This combined with the 5% stiffer springs and the revised damping hydraulics allow for a more dynamic feel when taking corners than the previous model. The rear suspension was also worked on, with springs that are now 15% stiffer and the whole body is now more rigid thanks to a new welding method.
